Sultans of Swing -MIDI Demo - OT

Following on from my recent MIDI demos and tests I wanted to do more files with the emphasis on guitar sounds to test the MIDI on my Korg keyboard further and to see what can be done. This again is a general MIDI file off the internet beefed up by the Korg sounds. I have done some EQ work and balanced and levelled it etc to get result and finally finished it off on my home studio. I have done over 70 files in last month or so so not a perfect job on these (just sound testing) I have not resorted to the original sound file and did it from memory.

So here it is Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits ... Does it capture the Mark Knopler strat vibe in the lead guitar sound ?
Two solos towards the mid and/ending but no lead vocal from me so it is backing track style. :)

Hi Roger - It's amazing what you can do with MIDI - The notes are spot on to Marks Solo and the sound is very close to Mark knopfler's guitar. - Who needs guitars ? :o
Very well done -- Phil

When done correctly MIDI is great for music making. Yep, I agree, excellent version of the classic.

I happen to know that the lovely Mrs. Bayliss is less than impressed with the hole that he dug in the lounge so that he could come up out the floor when he started playing. :D

Thanks folks I take it this was something like the real deal from your comments. Must say I have been more than happy with the results on many files I did and yes some did turn out better than others. Some MIDI files are better done than others but lots of good ones around to choose from.

Alan - she does not mind my rising up from the floor so long as I have the sequinned shirt on and flashing lights on my fretboaard LOL :D !

Phil - MIDI replace guitars ... never ! :)

Keith Tower Ballroom eh ! I get nervous playing in front of you lot !

I forgot to say

Did you notice all thoses Knopler sort of finger snaps and nuances on the strings almost like the real thing. Whoever did the MIDI file put some time in here. Well done whoever you are.
