Midnight Baguette AKA Mean Streets AKA Flight of the Condor

This is something of an experiment to see if the audio quality of this track is preserved after transfer from Mini Disc. How does it sound to you?

I wrote and recorded this years ago with Jet Harris in mind, but he didn't take it up... and then someone else said that it sounded very like another tune... so I took the backing track and recorded a very different melody over it - Flight of The Condor - which is attached to the thread about changing Marquee pickups. In the end, I pinched the intro and outro from that, together with the lower key "break" in the middle, and we played it at ShadowMania as Mean Streets...

In retrospect, this track is far too long... but I still think the idea is OK.

I'll post the backing track if you would like to have it...

Recorded with a Burns Legend (pickups 1 & 3) with the backing track made on an old Korgi3 keyboard/workstation; I used a Fostex FD4!!

Very interesting track and some nice tones from the Burns.
Regards audio quality, I'm getting random clicks on peak notes, as though they're overloading something. Don't know if anyone else is picking these up on their systems? At one stage there'd be a click from the right speaker than another inbetween, finally one from the left - I think coinciding either with a bass note or a bass drum beat. I persevered but they were still clicking from time to time, sometimes changing to slight crackles instead, which is a shame because they distracted me from an otherwise good recording. Hope that's useful. :|

Cheers,
Martyn

Thanks Martyn... I'll have to persevere with the technology... the clicks are not on the original... :(

Great track but the clicks are a bit annoying.

A very nice track David. :)

The structure of the number along with the Gretsch-like sound from the neck & bridge pickups put me in mind of something that the Vibratos might have recorded.

Hi and good morning. As everyone says David a very nice track. I also can hear the clicks and scratches in the left and middle of my system. Its very similar to the static and needle pop I get on my record playing system, but not as prominent. You are right about it being a tune for Jet, its got the 'Jet feel ' Bass X1 or guitar David?
Regards Geoff.

Hi I dont think Jet has an eleven string bass, please excuse the mistake, but I do think the tune would sound good if recorded using a Bass VI. There are not many tunes that do suit this instrument but this is one of them. Regards Geoff.
