This one is from the 1969 Solo Album from Hank Marvin.
Wahine means Woman in Hawaiian .
I think Hank originally played this on a Burns - Not owning a Burns anymore I used split pickups on my strat Bridge/Middle. Charlie Hall's EFTP patch 0-36 on Alesis Quadraverb Q2.
It stopped raining for half an hour today !! so I made the video in the garden - Not quite Hawaii but I can dream. Sorry no grass skirt !!
The BT came from Ian McCutcheon on his workout 11 CD
available along with the Tab here :-
http://www.tabman.co.uk/cd-shop-ian-mccutcheon.htm(I didn't use the Tabs so they may be different to the way I played it )
Hope you like Wahine.
Cheers Phil

Hi Phil, a great rendition of a beautiful number. I can well remember hearing it for the first time, after buying the Rarities album many years ago now.
By the way, You have a beautiful fence mate!!
Best wishes, from Rich'.

Thanks very much Fred, Rich and Gary - Glad you liked it - always good to do one of Hank's own compositions.
And Rich - you're welcome to come over and give the fence a paint
All the best... Phil

Well done Phil !!
This is a tune I've not heard before (nothing new there then

) and it is beautifully played and expressed.
Didnt even know it was one of Hanks own compos. Would that have been in his "Burns" era?
Great tone - really enjoyed the smoothness of the upper register notes with no "hard" edge". Did you have to roll off treble to get that sweet sound?
Good to be out in the garden. When I saw the opening shot I thought you might burst into Saturday Night At the Duck Pond
Lovely post
cheers
ian

Hi Ian,
Yes Hank originally played this on his Burns (before it was stolen !) I can't quite get the same sound on a Strat but close enough.
Didn't mess with the tone controls, just a bit of EQ in the mix. A bit of fun doing it outside in between the showers.
Now Sat night at the duck pond - there's an idea.
Many thanks for your comments..
All the best.. Phil

Wahine was the B-side to Hank's first solo single, Goodnight Dick, in 1969.
I am a bit surprised that some had never heard it. It was reissued (as stated above) on the 1976 "Rarities" LP and was also issued on the SFM "Would You Believe It" CD, the 1998 EMI CD reissue of the first HBM LP and also on an Australian CD transfer from the "Rarities" LP master tape in 1991.

PS: Are you using a DeArmond pedal, Phil?

Hi Jim,
No I haven't got a DeArmond, wish I had, - I'm pretty sure that's what Hank used. I'm using a Dunlop DVP1 volume pedal.
Thanks for the info on the song - didn't know it was the B side to his first solo single. You are a mind of information !
A friend on YouTube also mentioned the A side of the single was "Goodnight Dick" and was searching for a BT of it...
So Ian M if you're looking in hint, hint. LOL
All the best... Phil
