Rockin' with Bill Haley: "Rock Around The Clock"

Hi all,

I hope you are all Ok.
I bought this customizable backing track from a UK site: "http://www.karaoke-version.co.uk" and Each track can be muted.
This music (and not yet The Shadows, or I should say like the Shadows) has really triggered my interest for modern music.
My brother and I used to save 1 FF to go and watch Bill Haley and his Comets on a Scopitone downtown in the late 50's.
A scoptione is a kind of public TV resurrected in France around 1957.
I try to play Franny Beecher's part as best as I can.

I hope you like it.

Blessings,
Abel

Hi, Abel,

As I'm sure RayL will confirm, the classic guitar solo on RATC was played by Danny Cedrone and not by Franny Beecher (though many people assume it to have been Franny).

Really nice playing! That semiquaver run in bars 9 and 10 of the solo has always foxed me!

Best wishes,

JN

According to several sources, the original recording was played by Danny Cedrone, who died soon after. Franny Beecher only mimed Cedrone's playing on the various films and videos.
I have the film "Rock around the clock" on DVD, I'll have to check !

Great playing Abel, and the tone was spot on, plus excellent B/T. Is it a Epi Sheraton you are using ?

Hi all,

Glad you liked it.
I never payed attention to who played the solo, but now I am curious and you are all right that it was Cedrone and not Beecher who recorded the original.
I would love to hear Franny Beecher playing it live if it exists.

Blessings,
Abel
