Voice In The Wilderness

Haven't posted here for a while so here's my stab at an early Cliff hit using an excellent Roger Paulsson backing track with me doing just the lead sung parts on guitar.

Fender US '62RI fitted with D'Addario nickel wound 10s, middle pickup - Behringer SE200 Spectrum Enhancer - Magicstomp EFTP Patch U16 - VOX AD60VTX (using its simple tape echo setting added to make the Stomp patch more complex) - recorded in Garageband with added Cathedral stereo reverb within that software.

Very nice and very sweet to listen to, Martyn. Sensitive playing.

Hi Phil,

Many thanks - the Roger Paulsson BTs are excellent and certainly help with the overall quality of sound and separation.
I do make my own from time to time but they're not up to his standards as yet. Still trying, though. :)

Cheers,
Martyn

Sound and playing both excellent there. Particularly liked the muted part in the middle.

(Muting is one of my bugbears. Love the sound but can never seem to get it consistent over all the strings - especially the 1st.

Being the lightest gauge the 1st can sound quite weak next to the others and as it's also sitting at the outer edge, I find it easy not to mute it properly and get a sort of half mute/half plink sound. If my palm can't sit evenly across the strings right on the bridge there's a risk the notes may go sharp too, sounding as if the guitar's out of tune and for this reason I occasionally change the standard trem arm for one similar to an (aptly named) Easi-Mute that I have, which gives me more room to push my hand further across the bridge without squishing against the base of the trem arm and thus get a more secure and even/level contact between palm and strings/bridge. I find it does help and is worth looking at if you don't already have something similar fitted.

Thanks for your kind comments regarding the track - much appreciated. :)

Cheers,
Martyn
