Well, its been a while, but I got five minutes to pop round to Phil's for a quick jam session. Not sure on what to do I put this one in the can! It's my own straighforward version of Cavatina without using a volume pedal. We play this at most of our gigs and it always goes down well with the audience and smoochers on the dance floor. Just one little addition was the run-up after the first verse which I worked out to get me up to the octave. For those who don't have a volume pedal or would like to play this without one, you can see that it still works either way.

I like the glide up to the octave - very nice - I shall try that at home.
Effortless playing and wonderful bends. Great tone from the rosewood neck.
Its a wonderful tune. I've played it acoustic as per the original and also on the Strat and prefer to play it without the pedal.

If you care to try out the 'slide up' here's what to do quickly without trying to fathom it out:

eg. D-4 = A string at 4th fret.

So,

D-4 G-2 then play short E chord (at the nut) playing just the top 4 strings individually; while the B and E two open strings are still resinating hit B-7 and slide up to B-9, finally clamping on top B and E at the octave and playing them singly. Simples!!

Great playing on Cavatina, and great video too. Showing the fingerboard in close up made it like a master class. It has encouraged me (mainly a Bass player) to have a go at learning Cavatina, no doubt watching you play it a few hundred times!

Glad you liked it. I must say that I prefer playing it without the volume pedal as you can get totally lost in the number without having to concentrate on the footwork too.

Paul, you'll need an extra two strings on your bass! Sorry, only kidding... hopefully you will be able to learn it quickly by watching the finger work on the video.

Geoff, hope you are still playing lots of guitar numbers with all those guitars you have. Give my love to your lovely family.
