DESPERADO

While the gear's still set up for recording I thought I'd have a quick go at this: http://www.4shared.com/folder/cC8oYPGC/Public.html

American standard telecaster > Mesa Boogie Lonestar (preamp section only) > Quad GT > computer.

Again, not meant to be "that sound" but played as per The Carpenters version.

Cheers,
Pete.

Hi Peter
What a nice job.
I'm always torn between Karen's version of this and The Eagles. So, Ive decided that BOTH are best. :)
No "that sound" to get - its perfect like this.
A great tone from the Tele - very round and bell-like at times - Loved it.
The double stops were just excellent.
Brill!
cheers
ian

Thank you Ian.
I'm a total Carpenters junky mate! I just need to learn to play like Tony Peluso now.
FYI, I used the (bog standard) neck pickup for the whole song.
Strings are a set of Maxima gold 9's that I've just put on after them having been in a drawer for about 15 years :) They are still as untarnished as the day I bought them!

Regards,
Pete

Nice sounds - finger vibrato or do you have a trem unit fitted?

Cheers,
Martyn

Thanks Martyn.
No trem unit, it's just a bog standard American Standard telecaster.
All bends and vibratos done by my arthritic fingers :D

Cheers,
Pete

Well played Pete. One of my Top Ten favorite songs of all time, by The Eagles!
Weather permitting, I hope to see you play it at North Notts. Feb 17th?
