Theme from a Summer Place +BT and Free Tabs

Theme from a Summer place came from a 1959 film “A summer Place”
The Instrumental was made famous by Percy Faith who’s version spent an at-the-time record of nine consecutive weeks at number 1 singles chart in early 1960. It remains the longest-running number-one instrumental in the history of the chart.

This version is based on Bruce Welch’s Shadows version from Shadowmania 2012 Featuring Bruce Welch on Rhythm, Daniel Martin on lead guitar, Cliff Hall on keyboards, Alan Jones and Bob Watkins on Drums.

An equally great version featuring Phil Kelly on lead ( Bruce’s main Lead guitarist) was one of the tracks from the 2008 Shadowmania.

My son Andrew made the Backing track for me (I played Bruces’s part) available here http://www.philmcgarrick.co.uk/CD.html
and he is also making the Score and Tabs which will be FREE to download here soon http://www.philmcgarrick.co.uk/scores.html

Hope you like a guitar instrumental of “Theme from a Summer Place”

Phil. All comments welcome

Update 03/02/2013 - The FREE score and Tabs are now available to download here http://www.philmcgarrick.co.uk/scores.html

Hello Phil
Well how about that?!
A great Smoocher in the old tradition. Smooth touch here Phil and nice tone off the neck pickup too.
Really enjoyed it and I'm in for the BT already. Andrew did a smashing job on it. Ive seen the Youtube of Dan playing this at Shadowmania and you have the "soul" of it absolutely.
Super, smashing, Nice.
cheers
ian

A lovely old instrumental played beautifully Phil.

It always reminds me of the version recorded by Chet Atkins. It was on his 1961 LP entitled "Chet Atkins' Workshop".

Thank you very much Ian for for those nice comments and for buying the BT
Andrew should be making the Tabs pretty soon.
I was very impressed with the arrangement Bruce and Co had come up with so glad Andy made the BT for me.

Thank you also Roger - I've seen the Chet Atkins version on YouTube - everything he did was brilliant!
Glad you liked this one.

All the best... Phil

That's ace Phil, was it really 1959 ?
Doesn't seem that old, I was only 11 then.

.....really lovely tremolo work on this Phil... Great touches as always - but as the track goes on, you get more into it and it shows... With Robbie - lovely strings....

Sad to see the snow is gone...
