Hello Guys,

I have just joined the forum and have a 1964 Burns Jazz in green, a 2004 Burns Marquee in green
and a 2004 Burns Marvin 40th anniversary in green - why you ask well because I think that is the
best colour that Burns make a guitar in!!!!

OK that is me I am a Burns Man and will be till the day I die!!!

I would like to know if anyone could tell me how many 40th Anniversary 2004 Marvins
were made in Green, how many in red and how many in white - I know there were 2004
made in total -

As I understand it there were 2004 white Marvin Anniversary models made. I'm unsure of how many green ones were made or if they reached the 2004 limit.
The Aniverasary was not done in red! The red model with gold hardware was the Shadows Limited Adition model and limited to 500. Burns found that there was still a market for the Marvins and continued with them, but not badged Aniversary, just 1964, and they did not come with the signed certificates. These did include the red option and there is no limit on the amount they will make.
In short there are two versions of the Marvins, the Aniversary with signed certificates - (limited to 2004 white and green) and the 1964 model - no certificates and unlimited quantities made.
There are of course the updated versions all based on the Marvin - the Apache, Dream etc

because I have seen one and am thinking of adding it to my collection -

is there any difference in the sound of the 2004 Marvin Annervisary and the 2004 Marvin 64 and if so what -
also are there any other differencesc between the 2004 anniversary and the marvin 64

Basically its the same guitar with same sound! The white Anniversary Marvins have a neck binding - the green Anniversary models are plain. All 1964 models white green and red have plain necks with no binding. The early Anniversary models had the original neck/body pocket but this was changed to a normal neck fixing due to hairline paint stress cracks. The 1964 model is as I understand it still being manufactured with no limit on the numbers made! By the way I have both white and green Anniversary models plus the Shadows Ltd edition in red!

After I had my white Marvin Anniversary model for almost a year, the red one arrived (Shadows model) and I noticed a big difference in the feel and sound which I felt was better on the red one. the pickups sounded fuller to me and I asked Barry Gibson if there was a difference and he supplied me with three more pickups and told me to fit them to the white Marvin, which I did and the improvement was delightful. I still can't work out why the Shadows model feels slightly easier to play though, maybe the neck profile is slightly different ? That said, both are great instruments and the difference in 'feel' is there, but not a problem.

thanks for all theninfom - I have bought the MARVIN 64 - which was made in 2005 serial number 004 in Green and it
is new in the case with all paper work so I am really a happy camper!!!

I am now wondering if it would be work fitting the New Noiseless pick up to it - any thoughts????

Of the 2 Anniversary -white and green - and the Shads custom - I have, the green one seems more comfortable to me - guess its all down to personal preference! All have the same strings!

Dave, I own 3 Marvins, two LEGEND models ( white & greenburst ) and one 2004 Anniversary ! My bandmate has an orig. Marvin from 1964. Believe me, the white LEGEND and the orig. from 1964
are sounding nearly the same, my early white LEGEND has a little more BITE. Both guitars have the typical BURNS sound. My Greenburst has a slightly larger body and a fatter neck, the sound is amazing and you can hear that it`s a Burns. All 3 guitars are sounding far better than my 2004 Anniversary with the stock PU !
