I understand that BG is to move Burns production back to the UK. Marc Lamaq seems to be doing the manufacture for BG

Hope this goes well for Barry and Burns- it must be a logistics nightmare trying to co-ordinate guitar manufacture from China!

Hi, I like the sound of this, is it true? Most manufacturers these days switch production to China. I have never heard of Mr Lamaq,. Anyone any further information on this development or is it some kind on wind-up.

Mark had run guitar production companies in China for a number of years but had enough and has returned to the UK. I think we can expect some very interesting developments from him.. he wants to use 100% UK components wherever possible.
Check out his website he has / is producing some great stuff as well as Burns. I think it's early days yet with Burns and I'll guess we'll just have to be patient. Interesting how BG has gone with 4 L/H to start with although I believe this is a huge problem for the Chinese factory. Perhaps outstanding orders

Hi, thanks for the link Ian, I have checked it out and I see that Mr Lamaq is making necks for the Apache and the Marvin. I would love an Apache but always been put off by the chinese production.

Marc is not just making the necks but the body and finishing. BG is supplying the electronics hardware and Marc puts it all together

In a reply to an Email I sent to Barry Gibson he said that they currently make over 25% of guitars in the UK and planned to increase that percentage. That was in December 2016 don't know what percentage he intends to make in the UK. But with the weak pound perhaps overseas production isn't that advantageous.

Be interesting to know which models he has made in the UK and who is making them. Marc Lamaq is just starting. I understood that all Elite Models and Club Series were made in China now
