Not sure this is an 80s Marvin... they had four-piece scratchplates (i.e. the pickups and the controls were on separate plates), and I don't think the serial number indicates an 80s model!
Looks more like a Marquee to me.

It is definitely a Marquee.
£200 isn't a bad price, but the guitar is late 90s or more probably the late 00s. It would be worth more if it were a Littleport Marvin from c. 1981.

It seems to look like a Marquee to me which would reflect in the price being asked

Comment from the seller who contacted me because he was getting grief from some Ebayers and didn't want to mislead anyone I am still curious about the guitar.
I purchased it some years ago from someone local who said they worked for Burns Actualizers in the early 1980s and was given some old stock when they went bust. The fact it had the Actualizers plate on the back and the Marvin headstock made it seem genuine.

It's a poor but seemingly relatively expensive way to disguise a model which would have probably sold for £200 ! Marvin Badge on headstock is wrong they were transfers" Scroll looks wrong. Should be 4 piece plate. Vibrato system incorrect wrong control knobs. Never seen that style Neck plate numbers were normally scratched on. Can't find much which resembles an Actualisers model - perhaps the shape !

Hi, thanks for starting this thread. I have seen this on ebay and was going to bid at the last minute and hope to get a bargain. I was convinced it was genuine, mainly because of the back plate and Marvin label on the headstock. Thanks to you I now know it is a fake and will not bid. I am annoyed with myself for being taken in too easily.

Even if it is just a unexceptional Marquee model or similar, the price asked was reasonable IMHO- I couldn't buy one at that sort of price (200 quid is about AUS$300 here in Oz)!
There weren't a lot available here when they came out, and I've seen them advertised subsequently in Oz at about twice that price!
