I have just discovered that Pauline Moran who played Miss Lemon in the Poirot series used to play bass guitar in sixties girl band, She Trinity. There is a photograph of the band with Pauline holding a Burns bass.

I do remember The She Trinity, though I've never seen an episode of "Poirot".

If I remember accurately, they had a minor hit with a version of The Bobby Fuller Four's I Fought The Law in the late spring of 1966. I see the guitar-playing She is shown with a black Les Paul Custom on that record sleeve. At the time, the Les Paul was unobtainable new and was sought-after as much as gold dust. I'm fairly sure that She played a (white) Gibson SG Custom in '66 (which might even have been marked with the Les Paul name).

What a blast from the past.

On a similar tack, wasn't one of the Paper Dolls (a year or two later) a DJ on Piccadilly Radio in Manchester?

PS: Is Miss Lemon a playing piece in Cluedo?

I HAVE seen Poirot and am fascinated at the thought of the prim Miss Lemon rocking away on a Burns bass on a cover of I Fought The Law, although I don't remember their version of it!

Miss Lemon ought to be a Cluedo character, given her employer's profession. The whole game is very Agatha Christi-esque, if theat's a word (and even if it's not)

Yes, former Paper Doll Suzy Mathis did join Piccadilly. Just as Annie Nightingale was the first female DJ on the BBC, so, I think, Suzy was the first woman DJ on independent radio. Am I right? Something here, (here!), here in my heart keeps telling me No ...

Where's my coat?
