Does it say "Marquee" on it?
The reason I ask is that Burns certainly have produced a version in black, but they call it the "Shadow".
It is outfitted with Tri-Sonics and has gold hardware and the newer, knife-edge, Burns (Strat-sized) trem bridge.

HI Jim
It is not that one, it is a Marquee Club series.

Tsk, tsk... The first run of Marquees most certainly did have a black option, in fact it was called Jet Black (maple 'board, gray pearl scratchplate). It was eventually discontinued, as were Sterling Silver (ditto) and Islington Blue, (maple /white) leaving Trafalgar Red, (ditto) Shadows White (rosewood/ brown) and green sunburst (rosewood / black) as the options.

Not a Marquee Pro is it?

Then again, here's a Marquee proper in Jet Black as referred to by George G, although a later production given the truss rod cover next to the nut:

AND - here's a pic from Burns own website showing Chris Stein from 'Blondie' playing an early production Jet Black Marquee.
Enough said.

Hi
Thats the one Bill, but as you say truss rod is different, why I am trying to find out more about it is the year it was made as seems bit strange that a music shop would have a guitar like this for 5or more years on display . its not got a single mark on it , still had the protective covering on scratch plate.

John,
The one shown being held by Chris whatshisname has the original truss rod, accessed from the body end.
As far as them (the shop) 'holding' the guitar for a few years, nothing would surprise me like that. I know the Marquee was (is) a big seller in UK, but it didn't take off in Australia, and they do pop up for sale 'at a bargain price' after having sat in a shop for a while out here with no interest shown in buying. Maybe Jet Black wasn't a big seller in UK -another reason why BURNS may have discontinued that colour? The guy you spoke to at BURNS may have not been with them when the Jet Black option was available perhaps?
In any case, you do have it now!
