I believe it was 1963, the group I played in (Pete Mystery and the Strangers) were the supporting act when R & Roll legend Gene Vincent with UK backing group appeared near Southampton. This band performed a few instrumentals before Vincent came on stage. I was particularly impressed by the lead guitar, working out some terrific riffs and solos along with some high velocity finger work. We had reasonably new Burns Splitsonic guitars, during the break the lead guitar came over to Richard our rhythm guitarist and asked if he could try the Burns. After a short but amazing workout he handed back the guitar to Richard with a nod.
The backing group was the Outlaws, the lead guitar player turned out to be one Richie Blackmore.
