I'm fortunate enough to own a 40th Anniv Marvin and a Marvin 64.

Colours aside, what are the differences?

Cheers.

Hi Graham,

I only have a 2004 anniversary model (and 2 Dream noiseless models) and if I remember well I don't think there is a big difference between your guitars. You can judge by yourself as you have both if the sound is different or the playability, the weight, etc...

Regards
Pierre

I understand that the 2004 Aniversary Marvin sold out and there was a demand for more. As this was a limited edition of 2004 guitars Burns then badged all further guitars the 64. The diference as far as I understand, and I stand to be corrected, is that the 64 doesnt have the neck binding of the white Aniversary model. The green Aniversary did not have the neck binding so I wouldnt know the difference between the green Aniversary and the green 64

I was just wondering if there were any technical differences.

Even though I got these 2 at similar times, the Anniv. had never been played before, whereas the 64 had.
So the 64 definitely has a more relaxed feel to it.
Tone wise, they are almost identical.
I prefer the looks of the 64 Greenburst, to the Anniv. white. Though both are very cool, to my eyes.

If I could only keep one, it would be the Anniv. It's just so right, for feel and tone. :D

I dont think Burns made any changes to the Marvins until they brought out the Shadows Custom model - this had Hotter pick ups and the lower tone control was for the Bridge pick up rather than for the middle pick up on the Marvins.

I played one of the latter a few days ago - the lower tone control only works when the lower push/pull tone knob is pulled and brings in the neck pickup with the bridge pickup. Pushed back in, the tone control has no affect on any of the pickups.

The inruction sheet for the Custom does state that one tone control is a a treble cut for the bridge pick up and the other for the neck and middle pick ups!

Hi all,

My white anniversary model has the bound neck as does my greenburst 64. The 64 seems to have slightly stronger pickups as when I change from the strat to the anni, the windows nearly blow out where as when I change from the strat to the greenburst the walls nearly blow out!!!

Yes the Marvin picks ups are much louder than a strat!
