Burns Vibra Artiste Bridge Cover

It is quite unusual to see VA with the bridge cover on - I took mine off the first one I had back in the 60s. However I have decided that I should get some unfortunately can never see them on ebay. I have had some made close to the original but not exact. They have been chrome plated except for 2 which I have left in the 1mm mild steel. I am thinking of painting one black for my black Artiste and might have one gold plated for the de luxe Artiste I have never seen a photo of a de luxe with one fitted. If anyone is interested PM me and I will send a picture. They cost me £27 each not looking for profit but would like to cover costs + postage

I'm back! No replies to your post yet eh? There were at least two types of bridge cover - the "slip-on/fall off" one like mine from 1961 and a screw-fixed one. I've kept mine but never used it because it's unstable. I never throw anything away though - ask my wife! Mine can be seen in my photo collection on this site (Whever they keep it!) Its chrome is still as perfect as the day I bought it secondhand in October/November 1962. I'll post another pic if you're interested, but you've probably got bored waiting by now!

You are correct no one interested in bridge covers although I had 24 watchers on e bay. They would have gone if I did not put a minimum on. I had the ones made to the dimensions of the original screw on I had but more substantial.
Having one gold plated for my v/a de luxe and a black one for a black v/a project. Others I guess will sit in the drawer until I decide to offer them at a cheaper price. Nice to hear you are back

I noticed the 1mm mild steel you mention - phew! Battleship thickness! 80mm shell proof I should think :D. The Artiste DeLuxe was of course the screw-on type. I think my scan of the original 1962 leaflet is here somewhere and has been used in at least one book. Notice the spelling? Which you have correctly used, but Bell Music had it wrong from at least 1961! The slip-on type fitted to mine would only be of use if you never had the heel of your right hand anywhere near it!
I've not been away or even ill - just too much to do and so little time, even though I retired two years ago :) You wouldn't believe the amount of "house work" that has stacked up - like today was re-waterproofing the flat roof kitchen/diner extension. Waddaya mean - pay someone to do it? I'm an expert and know everything! As my wife says "I knew I married Mr. Right, but I didn't know his first name was 'Always' ". ;)
