Zoom G3X and Boss FV-50

I'd like a little advice please from someone who has had experience with the Zoom G3X.
I found my old Boss FV-50 volume pedal out at the weekend and decided to see if it offered a better swell effect
that the built in expression pedal on the G3X.
First thing to try is the pedal itself. Guitar to input one on Boss FV-50 pedal and lead out of output one on Boss FV-50 pedal.
Result working nicely thank you.
I now wish to play the Boss FV-50 through the Zoom G3X.
Following the handbook I reckon it's Guitar to input one on Boss FV-50. Lead from Output one on FV-50 to Control in on G3X
Lead from output mono on G3X to amplifier. Result, silence.
What have I missed? Little buttons on the back need to be in / out?
Any advice gratefully received.

Dont use control in.... use the normal input jack socket.

ok.
This might sound silly, but have you made sure the zoom pedal is all the way down. Remember that the pedal is,in effect, a volume control.

Forgive the brevity of the previous response Dave. I had a set of teeth pulling at my jeans telling me it's time to go for
a walk.
The dogs are downstairs and they get impatient too.
Yes, the G3X works fine on it's own. as does the Boss FV-50.
I just need to fine the right connections so they'll talk to each other.
I've a couple of ideas from Charlie and Bill to try later today and I'll tell you if they worked or not.
John, it's not silly mate. I've been caught out several times with the pedal "off".

Hi Alan,
I have as boss fv300h and it works fine by plugging into guitar input one and output one to input on the G3.
It may sound stupid and probably is but I just wondered if you took another lead from guitar input two and output two to control and assigning the pedal to the patch if that would work.
As you can see I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination but it might work

The output & foot switch sockets are very close together on the G3's...................... is there any chance you might have the lead plugged into the foot switch socket instead of the output ?

Seek and ye shall find!
I decided to go back to the RFX 2000 for the benefit of this experiment.
So, Guitar / Boss pedal / RFX 2000 / Amplifier.
I know this combination works as I've done it before. Albeit a couple of years ago.
All plugged in as above. Bingo! it all works.
So, why doesn't the G3X do the same? Bear with it, the answers here.
As I unplugged the lead from the RFX 2000 to re-insert it into the G3X, Snap, crackle and pop.
No, not breakfast time, the noise of a lead making a noise. Not the usual "Unplugging" noise.
The noise of a faulty lead.
Lead replaced with one of many that inhabit the spare bedroom. And.....it works again.
Remove RFX 2000 from the chain, replace with G3X. Just to remind you, Guitar / Boss pedal / G3X / amplifier.
All working....
So, to be specific. Guitar into input one of the Boss pedal. Lead from output one of the Boss pedal to input on the Zoom G3X
Output from G3X to the amplifier. Works fine. the faulty lead managed to hide itself from me.
What have I learned from this? I DO prefer the Boss pedal to the expression pedal on the G3X. A couple of reasons. There's more operating room
with the Boss pedal. You're not in close proximity to the unit and nothing to catch your footwear on. And...there seems to be a greater "sweep".
More pedal travel giving a more uniform operation. Doubtless some will disagree. However, this is what I've found and I'm pleased I carried out the experiment.
Even if I did make a schoolboy error by not checking my leads properly.
