Any views on these 2, the Blue is £250. Are the internals the same/similar etc.

Yes Keith I was thinking only yesterday that it would be nice to have both for 24hrs, and then return the one you didn't want and pay for the one you liked best.
I don't think there would be much difference but I could be wrong.

Cheers
Alan H

Hi Keith,
The only thing in common with the 2 units is that they both use the Spin-Semiconductor FV-1 digital signal processor. The Blue Nebula analogue and digital controller circuitry is unique. The FV-1 emulation programming is also different.

The H&C has timbres in there that no other has and you need a very trained ear to appreciate it. I struggle at times and honestly think that in a mix, to most, it would be undetectable.
You pays yer money etc etc. :)

My BN arrived and it's an awesome piece of kit. Without being critical of the H & C unit, which I've heard live a number of times (Iain McCutcheon, Terry Devon Fentone Four), there is in my opinion, very little between them according to my ears. The only fair comparison would need to be done side by side and I'm not in the position to be able to do that, however, someone might in the coming days. If you've had a previous eTap incarnation, you will not be disappointed and at £250, it's great value for money.

Hey Alan - can you please tell me where you ordered it? The link on their website doesn't appear to be working yet.

Thanks,

Tony

They are built in limited numbers Tony, when the link to the BN is down, it means that the batch has been sold out. When they others built, the website 'goes live' until the units are bought and then the cycle repeats itself. If you join the email group, you'll be advised when the next batch is ready.

ive just brought the Blue Nebula aswell as having an Etap and have to say its a great piece of kit for the price point. I still think the Hall and Collins is really good but as Dave said in a mix live you probably wouldnt notice a difference.

Thanks Alan - will do.
