I wonder if any of the resident gurus can identify this guitar?
Apart from saying Commodore on the headstock there seems to be no other wording.

Hi PJ,
I have a feeling that these were part of the usual Japanese copies that started coming over in the 70s/80s. Some of them were rather good guitars, so don't write them off as naff copies without checking them out.

Looks like late '60's/early '70's era ..Japanese made.

BTW, lots of folk collect this sort of vintage Japanese gear these days, and pay good money for it!

I've got a load more to sort out yet to be put up for sale - mostly solid but a few acoustics too in a mixture of left and right hand models.

These guitars were sold under a variety of trade names, including Columbus and Angelica. The pickguard is non-original.

Jim do you mean the pick guard has been changed or that it originally didn't have one?

Also is there any where I might get an approximation of its current re-sale value? I can't seem to find anything on the web.

Hi Peter, I used to own one in the 80s, Mine had a black pick guard and the pick ups were different.I have seen these for sale at £200.00 plus and they were wrecks.by the way it was an awful guitar to play.Hope this of some help.Cheers,Phil.

My Made in Japan Epiphone EA-250 seems to have the same tailpiece and trem assembly as your guitar.
Probably adds more confusion to the topic?

The original pickguard (it had one) is missing.

The one on it now is one meant for a copy of a Gibson Les Paul Standard.

Check "completed listings" on eBay for a guitar like yours.

Try the brand-names Columbus, Angelica.

JN thanks for the heads up on Ebay, it's given me a pretty good idea about how much to ask for it.

I'll restring it and spend a couple of hours setting it up over the next few days and report back with my opinion of it.
