We all know that the fiesta red colour was originally made by Dupont for the 1956 Ford Thunderbird, and as car painters know, the colour might change a little from a batch to another...

I'm with Ian and Robbo.
As a owner of 7 strats, a P-bass and a Bass VI(the later is a re-spay)in Fiesta Red, I have a sample of every decade in that colour was produced by Fender.
Not one is like the so fabled Flamingo pink....not my 58 maple neck or 60's slapboard, of the HBM signatures the MIM and the MIJ come close people say.
The one I think is the closest is the one Robbo showed us years ago next to his reissue strat that strat was just a few numbers away from the 34346.
I'm still waiting on the follow up he promised me ;) both guitars together in neutral light....

Cheers Rob

That photo was taken in neutral light Rob. The guitars are on my window sill on a bright but overcast day, meaning no direct sunlight, just white cloud cover. There were no lights on in the house either, I don’t think you can get any more neutral than that. :)

Thanks Dave,

Well that means your reissue strat is also spot on as that original 59 strat just a few numbers away of 34346 as that famous fabled flamingo pink in that light.
The photo of the shads outside holding the 34346 and the genuine colour picture of the Espresso set has no trace of Flamingo Pink either...I know pictures from way back when...are not accurate, also our pc screens are most of the time not capable of a reliable display.
So I'm not surprised stage/studio lighting added a lot to the legendary story about Flamingo Pink.
I'n curious about the car paint-number of the CRS-59

Cheers Rob
