What was the effect that Hank used on the acoustic part of Sacha from Hank plays live?

I think it was a piezo pickup - which was fitted to his strat, to try and achieve more of an 'acoustic' effect.
Interestingly, when he played Sacha on later tours (1998, 2002) - he used an acoustic on a stand for this section, with the strat slung behind his back. And it was brilliant both sonically and visually.
