Just wondered if anyone has had chance to try this new pedal, what are your thoughts? Looks very interesting and some of the demo's on youtube seem promising ?

Looked interesting, until I noticed the price: 549 USD, which probably means that once it gets to these shores it will be nearer 549 GBP. or more.

In other news, BOSS have confirmed that they are about to release the RE-2, a replication of the Roland Space Echo but in their usual pedal size format. No price yet, however.

From my experience of most people I know on this site, nobody will be able to make head nor tale of it.

It's a more compact version of the already well known RE-20, an emulation of the tape echo RE-201, so not suitable for Hank's early years sound.

From what I can see it's nothing like the RE-20, the Roland is a three head device with optional reverb and the Pompeii has four heads which makes a big difference. Neither of them can give satisfactory Shadows style echo patterns because the taps or heads are not in the correct position to achieve those patterns. The best device in this price range by far that will get somewhere in the ball park, is the Strymon Volante which offers alternative head spacings which get it closer to the Meazzi. It is essentially a Binson based machine, but the spacings can be made more Meazzi like with a bit of skill. :)
