This is certainly not a bad idea if you are reliant on using the venues PA, you may well come across things like active powered speaker systems, in this scenario one might expect there to be some form of mixer, but these days there may also be Blue Tooth connectivity or USB. The venue will of course source something suited to their mainstream activities, which may not be the best solution for live performance.
You’ve obviously thought about this as you say “can go into the mixer”, so I presume you would use direct connections depending on the situation?
