This pedal is a profiler pedal that works in a similar way to a Kempler Profiler, but it is much cheaper and smaller footprint. Have seen a comparison to other profilers on uTube and it seems to be as good as the others. It has presets and also downloading of amp/cabs from other users etc.

To make your own profiles you need their free software and a ToneX Capture box (£250).

Has Compression, noise gate, parametric eq and reverbs built in. Can set these pre or post. Eq has low and high shelf filter and a mid bell style parametric with Q and frequency.

The competition is very costly compared to this unit (under£400). Very interesting. Anderson did a comparison of this with others and real amps and it was very close.

If you are looking at profiling , this looks a great option. It acts as an interface as well.

Timely post! I'm just about to try the free VST / standalone version "Tonex CS". It doesn't have an AC30 profile included (the regular version does) but have found some for download, including some free, some paid.

Will report back.

Just thought I'd feedback (ha!) after my experiments with the Tonex software.

I don't know how many of you use software amp sims (I understand completely that using a real amp is much better) but.....

I bought some "captures" of a 1964 vox ac30 from amalgam audio https://www.amalgamcaptures.com/product ... 1964-txcdi

I bought both the close mic'd and room mic'd cab versions, loaded the "head" into Tonex and mixed the cabs together and I have to say to my ears it sounds really good.

For context, I haven't used a real Vox amp for years so take everything with a pinch of salt but I set this up with the software version of the echorec https://pulsar.audio/echorec/ and my Burns Marvin and I noodled for ages.

This is always my test of an amp sim. "Do I just want to sit here and noodle for hours?" Many of them (and I have a few) fail in this respect but the Tonex / Amalgam combination really had me hooked.

I'm aware most of you are live players (I'm a recording composer) so the software won't be of interest but if the Tonex pedal is as good as the software it might be worth investigating.

In terms of the software, it wasn't super straightforward to set up (using close and room mic's cab IR's involved using an IR loader - I used "reverberate") but if anyone want's a walk through I'm happy to help.
