MagicStomp power adaptor - help please

Hi folks...

My MagicStomp power adaptor has turned faulty, only working intermittantly. I've bought a multi-adaptor but it doesn't work properly with the unit. I'm sure there must be some MagicStomps users out there who don't use the original power adaptor. What replacement adaptors do actually work with the MagicStomp?

Cheers...

J

Remember that the MagicStomp need 12 V AC, 1 A! I guess multi-adaptors usually are DC.

Best wishes

Hi Justin
Have you got the polarity the right way on your multi Adaptor
I dont know Which way it is on the Yamaha pedal
It should Have a Symbol on the pedal where you plug the adaptor in
it will indicate wether the centre pin is + or - if you have it the wrong way round it wont work
on most multi adaptors you can change the end round?

regards
Jay

That's right, most power supply adaptators on the market are AC-DC, for the Magictstomp you need an AC-AC 12V 1A power supply.
This one should fit : http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=43055
No need to care for + or - with AC !

By the way, if the adaptor works, but only imtermittently, it ought to be possible to replace the flex and plug of the output power lead, which is where the fault almost certainly is.

When I got my stomp from a US seller on eBay, I had to get a power supply for it. The only place I found that sold the official Yamaha one (AC-10) was Thomann in Germany. I had to cut off the european plug and put on a 3-pin UK plug, but it worked. It doesn't look like Thomann stock them anymore.

As others above have stated it takes 12V AC 1Amp. What Didier linked should do the job (they might even have them in stock over at Houndstone)

edit: Just checked and the store at Houndstone have 2 in stock! :)

Wow, thank you all (well, maybe not Alan ;) ) for such great help! The problem is - I believe - to be resolved, and I am getting hold of another adaptor.

Thanks again!

Check out the Line 6 PX-2 AC power supply (readily available from most guitar shops in the UK) - this seems to be a 9 volt 2 amp AC output (it may perhaps suffice for the job if the MagicStomp has a built in regulator?). I only found out the PX-2 adaptor was just AC when I thought I could use it with my BOSS pedals - they didn't like it! I had to buy the Boss PSA-240 instead for that job - this one at least provides a regulated 12 volt DC output.

Hope that helps anyone else with the same problem - you'd rather think they would've all opted for the 12 volt DC option, but they don't!

Cheers,

Alan.
