Here’s our bass guitarist Anna at a university homecoming we played at the other month. We played just early Ventures pieces, as it was a dance party (and it is hard to find enough Shadows dance pieces!). Accordingly, Anna used her sunburst Precision Bass, ala Nokie Edwards. Nokie played with the bridge and pick-up covers on, so Anna plays that way too. Of course, Jet Harris used a sunburst P-Bass for Apache, I recall with the covers on too. Note the period leather strap and the vintage-style cable. We got to be consistent!

Anna wasn’t around in the 1960s and doesn’t know the Ventures just stood bolt upright when they played.

Haha, yes. Jim. But that way have teen the 1st and last time! Their style was generally so passive, especially Nokie Edwards. So different from the Shadows.

I trust you're keeping well.

Indeed. That video reminds of the rather exaggerated moves Cliff Richard's present-day singer-guitarists perform. Shame the film is slightly out of sync.

That was for a show, I recall. They weren't plugged in. That's the original version (the recorded hits of their "Walk Don't Run."
Bob Bogle lead, Nokie Edwards bass.
