Hmmm...probably so!

George H once said that both Colin Manley and Griff Griffiths were far better guitarists than he!

Also, Colin was a Shads fan and played instrumental guitar things as well as just rock guitar solos...

Incidentally, Catswalk(AKA Cats Call) was covered as a trad jazz version by Chris Barber's Band - with Paul's encouragement- it's on YT, I happened across it the other day whilst looking for some live Chris Barber performances featuring Sister Rosetta Tharpe when she toured the UK with his band in 1957- and Marty Wilde evidently came by her goldtop Les Paul- which he gave to Big Jim Sullivan! A bit like Cliff buying the Strat for Hank a little later on! :-)

Hi John,

Martin posted a link to the Chris Barber track a few posts ago.

Incidentally (!) I picked up a mint copy of Lonesome (Si Tu Vois Ma Mere) by Chris Barber on Columbia (composed by Sidney Bechet) a few weeks ago at a flea market in Upton-on-Severn, and that evening heard it performed at the Jazz Festival by John Hallam (with Remi Harris Trio). I'd never heard it before - it was the follow-up to Petite Fleur - again featuring Monty Sunshine, but this time Chris Barber did play on the record! Apparently Monty Sunshine quit the Barber band in the early 60s because he thought they were sounding too much like The Shadows!!

Good that the 'dreadful instrumental' has created so much interest...
