I love the drumming and groove from BB on 'Oddball', in particular, and the mid 70's output in general.
Talking about funky grooves, check out 'Name Of The Game' and 'Mile High Swinger'.
Then, of course, with The Shads, there is 'Spider Juice'.
Funky, jazzy, awesome!
Great stuff!

Happy to see a mention for Spider Juice, a fantastic track that doesn't get much attention.

I've always felt that Spider Juice - and it's running mate Honourable Puff-Puff - was the best track on the Specs Appeal album. Both SJ and HPP could (in an edited form) be great TV themes.

The likes of Bennett and Hawkshaw (and of course Dave Richmond) were truly exceptional when it came to nailing that funky '70s New York groove thing and those library tracks from the KPM and Bruton labels especially are held in very high esteem today. You could score a whole movie (or TV series) with them and it would all sound as if it was specially composed for the occasion.
