News has reached me that my long-time friend Spencer Scott - of the Kent guitar club and the Duane Eddy Twang Gang - passed away in hospital last night. Incredibly sad news. I last saw Spence a couple of weeks ago at his home and it was obvious that he was not his old self. More news when I have it.

I'm very sad to hear this news. I used to enjoy his performances with The Twang Gang and it was obvious he was a lovely guy. My condolences to his family at such a sad time.

Very sad news indeed. Spencer excelled at that difficult instrument, the pedal steel guitar. Although most often heard in country music, it can add a wonderful texture to rock instrumentals.

As a tribute to Spence, here is a clip from Enchanted Sea, track 12 from The Secrets' second album, Secret Society, with Spence guesting on pedal steel.

So sad, what a lovely guy he was - and the (musical) tales he could tell about all the people he played with...

Miss you Spence, R.I.P.

This is a big shock and devastating news. I particularly remember seeing Spencer at Verden when we played over there and enjoyed his company along with his friends at that time. RIP Spencer.

Very sorry to hear of Spencer's passing, it was due in some part to Spencer and Jim's club's that I eventually picked up the Guitar and tried to play.
He was not very well for some time but bravely carried on running KSMC as best he could and when he had off times we ( myself & Alan ) would stand in for him.
Spencer's enthusiasm for the Steel guitar is legendary and it was a pleasure to watch him play, not too shabby on the Strat either!
R I P Spence and thank you for the music.
