Hi All,

Just come across a site - www.karaoke-version.com - that looks, on the face of it, a potentially good source for backing tracks, if you want other than Shads or HBM.

They have just started a new section, "Custom Backing Tracks", where you can take out any part of the backing track you want . . . and it looks relatively cheap too!!

Has anybody had any experience of the site or it's backing tracks . . . it advertises that the tune comes in the same key as the original!!

Yes I've used them several times, Brian.
Excellent for the price - and good service as well.
One of the tracks I bought refused to download so I emailed them, and it was rectified very quickly.

I see in your selection you have included "Wicked Game".

Have you heard the BT from Ernie Lamprell on "Strat Trax - Vol 2"?

It contains no lead guitar at all, if you haven't heard it, you can hear it via www.tabman.co.uk, it is really very good.

I have listened to, and enjoyed, the majority of your tracks on YouTube.

Hi Brian,

thank you for the link and for your kind comment to my videos. In fact I have BTs for the next 200 years . But every now and then I find a tune that I want to do that is not among them.

I was glad to make some BTs from original vinyl records from the Shadows which were produced in a way, that I could erase the lead guitar (e.g. on Rise and fall.., Jigsaw, trains and boat and planes). I love them the most- when do you really have the opportunity to have Bruce and Brian playing with you. .

I´m now looking forward to saturday when I visit the concert in Köln (Cologne). I hope I can grab an autograph. I took off the pickguard from my BURNS so I dont have to carry the Guitar with me .

I Hope you get your autograph . . . I have only seen the DVD, which was excellent, I haven't seen a bad report about the concert yet!!

Can I ask what software you use to produce these backing tracks?

I've been looking at Mixcraft 4, which looks interesting. I have also found a plug-in at www.elevayta.com, which supposedly removes the vocal or lead instrument. There is a standard and Pro version, which again looks interesting!!

Hi Brian,

I do this special backings with "Audacity" (free download) with which I do all my recordings for Youtube. It`s the only program I can handle.
(too dumb for others like Cubase etc. )

But it depends how the original vinyl record was produced. The lead track must be separate then I can turn it off and copy the rest 2 times and
make a stereo track of it. The sound quality is not too good but as I said before- Bruce and Brian.........
I guess it only works with older recordings because the newer ones were recorded more complicated. (multitrack).
I guess there are other programs for erasing the lead. I read some mails on that subject here in this forum. (may by by Bojan ? )

I'm sure Cubase was written by, and used by, someone like Einstein.
