You Basicly play a Chord of F with a note of G In The Bass
The Elevnth And Four are the same Note of C
The Full Notes In The Chord Would be G A B C D F

G11 contains a suspended 4th anyway.
Stick a C note into a G7 chord.

You couldn't get a simpler G11 than this..........

Thanks to Jay and Ecca, and well spotted, Ecca!
In a way this is a subtle plug for a very good book (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah by Bob Stanley) which covers the modern pop era from 1952 (first seven inch singles and NME publishes the first singles chart) to the 2000's. Just about every significant artist or group is mentioned, including The Shadows, of course. There is a whole chapter on The Beatles, which is where I picked up the mention of that famous chord. The book is recommended, especially if you'd like to get your head round the music of more recent years and find out how it fits in alongside the music that you grew up with.

It sounds like you've been having a hard day's night searching for that chord, Ray.
An easier way to get the effect on a single guitar - preferably a 12-string (the sound on the record includes a D on bass guitar and a F6 triad on piano):
- forefinger barré across the third fret (all six strings) and
- hold down the fifth and third strings at the fifth fret with the third and fourth fingers respectively.
According to all the learned discussion - and even what George revealed some years ago - it shouldn't sound right.
But (especially on a twelve, which gives you the aimed-for first string F, but on the fourth pair), it just does.

Thanks, Jim. I Should Have Known Better that I needed Help with that chord and having tried all the offerings I pronounce yours the most faithful to the original (though I did use my G7 capo to hold down those twelve strings at the third fret). Now I must Get Back to editing a show called Movicals (yes, it combines Movies and Musicals!)

That's the chord I always used on Hard Days Night Jim.
3 guitars hitting it at the same time........
PLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG !
Like a spanner hitting a girder.

Jim's advice is not quite right- that chord shape he described played at the third fret gives a G on the top E string not an F- so you also need to add the F on the B string 6th fret with the little finger.

The F is already there at the 4th string 3rd fret.
It's the right chord.
