The streets where we live.

Little by little, in spite of the avatars and nom de plumes that hide our identities, we get to know the members here. While that has its risks in the Internet, I think that is a wonderful thing. Occasionally, someone writes about where he or she lives, as a member did about his scenic town in Scotland. That is especially interesting to me, as I live on an island in South East Asia and am likely never to visit anyone of you.

It would be good if we can post photos, not necessarily of the house or apartment where we live, but the street it’s on. Or perhaps the main street of the town or where oneworks or likes to go . The photos will place the comments in context for me, and makes them more alive.

I hope you think this is a good idea.

I’ll start with mine. I live in Metro Manila in what used to be the outskirts of the city. Manila is the most densely populated city in the world, and its boundaries have since expanded past where I live. It is no longer the pretty city it once was.

We live in a residential village with old houses and, so far, plenty of trees. Here is a view of our street, which looks out into a valley. My house will be to the right, after the turn. Driving home, I always pass here.

It is a quiet neighborhood with birds, frogs, and other reatures, unusual in the city. I took this photo from my 1948 MG TC, which is as old as me.

I hope you will contribute, too.

We are lucky to have some green and several trees. But typhoons are always a feature here, and they have been getting stronger. The typhoon last month knocked down several trees. This is how it looks after the last storm. That's our three-year-old dog, Sundance.

Your community seems a quiet and lovely place, Derek. I've been to Leeds only once, in 1981, to visit a friend who studied and then worked there. Also, a friend visited to order a tandem bicycle frame from Bob Jackson, then a well-regarded builder in Leeds.

Many thanks, and regards.

That seems a peaceful neighborhood, Noel, and a nice place to live. Lovely, too. Now, I can place where the posts come from. The sound of a Vox at high volume must carry some distance in that quiet place.

Best,

Andy

Good thread Andy, joking apart.
I've made quite a few videos on here that have involved quite a few people from around the world and I always ask them to show me where they live in the videos they send to me for inclusion.
Here's one for example with mates Robbie and Al......
