The Vinyl Countdown...

Just bought a new record box to contain all my vinyl - not that it'll all fit in one box of course!

But, as you can see, I've made a start...

Suitable storage boxes for records are nowadays very expensive.

Even self-assemble cardboard boxes for housing 45s routinely cost anything up to £20 plus postage of £5.00+.

I wonder why IKEA don't do one in any of their ranges?

I also got a self-assembly cardboard one, for those that the bigger one wouldn't take, for about £7.99. OK, it's only a cardboard box but it's just the right size.

Hopefully, between them, I'll have enough room for my 100-odd LPs and a few 12" singles. At present ALL in a very big - and heavy! - cardboard box in the garage, which I want to try and improve upon!

The Vinyl Countdown would make a very good name for a second-hand record shop!

Those heavy plastic storage/bottle type crates make good containers for vinyl LPs..exactly the right internal dimensions for LPs in covers..I don't trust cardboard..

Yeah, I've seen these being used at record fairs and market stalls.

I've just got to about the two thirds point in the sorting out of my records and putting them in my big Union Jack (it's raining and we're almost floating!) box and the smaller cardboard one. I didn't realise it would be so tiring! Will add some photos...

And what are these... 'hiding' on a chair, almost out of sight?

Guilty pleasures, officer. Guilty pleasures...

P.S. My task is now finished... ALL my LPs (and 12" singles) transferred from one HUGE box to a large metal box and a smallish cardboard box. And, do you know what? They fitted EXACTLY - with just the right amount of space left so that they weren't all crushed together! Perfect! No room left at the inn. If I want to buy any more LPs, I have to either buy another box or start chucking some away! So, for the time being, that's me done!
The End.
