I'm sure Hank would have been able to avoid the awkward tempo and pitch change that ruins this version.

Steve there is no change of tempo, and when you mention "pitch change" I guess that you mean change of key.

If that's the case, then there are countless instrumentals that incorporate a change of key.

I realise that, but this is just an awkward-sounding drop of a semitone that five minutes with a copy of Audacity could render totally seamless.

You're probably right about the tempo, the second part sounds slightly faster to my old ears but I couldn't be bothered to connect up the drum machine to check.

P.S. I'm so appalled that people have to pay for stuff of this quality, that if anyone sends it to me, I'll correct it for nothing.

I'm puzzled by your mention of "an awkward drop of a semitone".
The first part of the recording is in the key of Eb major which then modulates to G major.

Your opinion of the quality is of course a personal matter, but I'd like to mention that the arrangement and key change corresponds exactly to the original.

Personally, I have enjoyed playing this number to Roger's fine backing track.
Its a fun piece to try, and I cant find fault in it as described!!!
Anyone interested should also look at XL5 by the XL5 a 1962 HMV 45
which is the Charles Blackwell Orchestra in disguise!!!

Indeed, however in the original arrangement the two halves were twenty minutes apart with a TV programme in between, rather than touching each other. This results in the first chord of the second half, a D, following an Eb which to my ears sounds absolutely horrendous. Why couldn't the first part just be in D?
