Hi all,

Just a short note that a new version of my computer database program "The Shadows File" is available.


If you want to know what it is all about please have a look at the two attached pdf files. The first is a flyer with a short description of the contents, the second is the user's manual.

Thanks Ulrich, having been a longstanding user of the MS-DOS version I can testify to the value for Shadows enthusiasts of this magnificent database.

I'm assuming that the updated version will run under current versions of Windows. Will it also run under the Mac OS?

Hi Ian,

I am very sorry, but no. the program will only run under Windows (tested under XP to 10).
I would have needed an IDE for Apples OS which would have cost me some 1,500 euros. No chance to get a payback at a selling price of 25 euros!

Fair enough. I always wondered how they made their money!

Looks like I'm going to have to get Bootcamp - or Parallels or Fusion! Any Mac user out there with advice on which to choose?

I can recommend crossover from CodeWeavers you can run windows programs without the operating system, I have been using it for years.

Most windows programs will run but their are exceptions, but there is a trial version to check first before purchase.

Or you could try the below option:

The new version of The Shadows File is a fantastic piece of work, even more detailed than the original version, in my opinion highly recommended and available at a bargain price. Well done Ulrich!

Can anyone explain why my emails to the above address, TheShadowsFile(at)t-online.de, keep getting bounced back? This is the same address quoted in the flyer and at the end of the Pipeline review so it is unlikely to be a mistype. The reason given for the message being undeliverable was:

The reason for the problem: 554 IP=212.74.114.4 - A problem
occurred. (Ask your postmaster for help or to contact tosa(at)rx.t-online.de to
clarify.) (BL)

It could be me, though, as I am suffering a bad bout of manflu.

Hi Paul,
Error 554 seems to be caused by a problem with the registry of your computer. There are tools available on the web to correct this error but a quick search gave me only websites in German which will probably be of no help for you.
Regarding the Shadows File, you can pm me directly here on ShadowMusic which should work without problems.
