Those that didn't attend last night's show missed a superb performance by The Bootleg Shadows, including a take on the Beatles, which I thought was brilliant. Great interaction with the audience.

Not as many attendees as in the Shadowmania days, but it was said that the event will run next year, the thing is if it isn't supported this unique event may not be supported by Lakeside. Next year is promised to be different, so hopefully of a bigger event.

I agree as well.

It was a shame not having the party night - but popped up to the Surrey Club on friday evening instead. So I enjoyed the Friday evening and the main show at Lakeside on Saturday.
On arrival on Friday the new manager (she has recently started) at Lakeside spoke to everyone at the hotel individually to explain that although this year was a bit of a let down she was intending to make next year a good one.
She wants support - and would like to organise the event as we would like it. So we need to support her.

Back in the time that the Beatles just came to light - personally I was not keen on the actual sound of the Beatles. To me the sound was thin and noisy. I took some stick from the new Beatlites because I preferred the Shadows and Cliff.
I argued that if Cliff and The Shadows did the Beatles numbers - there would be a fuller sound and then they would really rock.

Well last night the Bootlegs proved this. Well done lads.

Many bands play the Beatles numbers now - the good ones seem to produce the fuller sound.

A fantastic performance from The Bootlegs really stole the show for me but a good variety of material from all bands. Lets hope the new management can sort things out next year and going forward because it is such a great event for meeting up with friends and keeping this wonderful music alive.
