Just a quick 'heads-up' that these films are both being shown on Talking Pictures (ch 81) over the next week.

Some People - tomorrow (Sunday 25th November) at 10.10pm and Thursday 29th November at 6pm

The Boys - Wednesday 28th November at midnight.

Not sure whether either of them are 'cut' at all or shown in their entirety.

Also tomorrow night there's a good Edgar Wallace film (The Rivals) featuring an MG Magnette - for any old banger nuts like me!

TPTV, like the BBC, never edits films for length in order to fit a broadcast slot.

Both of those broadcasters may edit films for content, but there is nothing to cause such concern in either of those two films, especially not in 2018.

Thanks for the heads up.

I saw Some People at the cinema when it first came out and it's eluded me ever since so I can't remember much about it.

I didn't see The Boys on release and I didn't catch up with it until a few years ago. I think it was an excellent film of its time, irrespective of the Shads connection.

I'll record both.

I was flicking through the channels last night and came ac cross Some People on Talking Pictures, the sequence I saw had Angela Douglas miming to Some People and I was wondering if it was Valerie Mountain singing she did record it,also Ray Brooks and David Hemmings were miming using cheap looking guitars which I couldn`t see the make of .Wasn`t Angela Douglas a stunning looker then and maybe still is, also there was some good vintage British motorcycles and buses.

Yes - Valerie Mountain was doing the vocal on Some People.

I don't want to be unkind to her, but if it were not for the fact that she had the luck to fal into the film with The Eagles, I don't think her name would have been remembered.

There were three versions of that song released that year. Jet's was by far the best. Carol Deene's was better than Valerie Mountain's. Deene was a better singer, though she gave the impression of not taking it seriously.

Guitars used were a matching pair of British made two pickup Dallas Tuxedos plus a Dutch made Rosetti/Egmond Bass 7....

Movie showbiz gossip..Kenneth More met Angela Douglas working on that film, and afterwards left and divorced his wife and married Angela... :o :)

Yes, indeed!

I remember her being the hidden guest on Juke Box Jury when they played her new record 'James, Hold The Ladder Steady.' It wasn't a very good song and it received criticism from the jury, particularly from the American actor/comedian/singer Stubby Kaye who was a regular panellist and, to me, always came across as a self opinionated prat. His comments on the song were quite obnoxious and he finished by holding his nose.

His face was a picture when Carol emerged from behind the screen but she was very gracious about it all.

Cheers.

I remember that happening to Hank on the radio version hosted by Mike Read. He played one of Hank's solo singles. Everyone hated it then Hank came on the line. Gulp.
