The Lathums

Hi

Don’t know if anyone else caught The Lathums on the Virgin radio breakfast show today - but it really caught my ear - very Hank-esque and makes a pleasant change for a young band

Take a listen https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=csY6MnAYc2g

Cheers
Mark

Sorry but I cant see any Hank/ Shadows connection with this tune , which sounds like 1000s of
others and done in a similar vein by young bands these days.
Just my humble opinion!!!!

Mark Burton.

You stand before your peers on this 14th day of August in the year of our Lord 2021.

You are accused that on Friday the 13th of August in the year of our Lord 2021
you did wantonly and with total contempt for the rules of this sacred site,
knowingly post in the wrong section. Having met you and knowing that you are
previously of good character, I would speak in your defence and ask the good citizens
here present to witness that the sacred word "Hank" was, in fact mentioned in the original
crime ridden post. Albeit hyphenised I.E. "Hank-esque".

Perhaps, those wise, fair and ( Quite handsome in some cases ) who sit and observe,
might find it in their hearts to move the stinking, puss ridden, unwholesome post,
to the lounge or some other never mentioned place before it makes PMQ's on Monday.

Mark, in penance, you must play, twice on the trot, that fiddly bit in the middle of
"The Savage" that everybody cocks up.

And may the Warlord have mercy on your soul.

I don't think they're like thousands of other bands today. They're making simple, but well played music in the traditional way. If you compare that with most of the tosh that gets in the charts now it's very refreshing.

They're new, and with a little bit of success they can only get better. But yes, it should be in the Lounge section.

Just my two pennorth,

Len

It was refreshing for me that they were not reliant on distorted guitar sounds and that's where the similarity with Hank was in my book.
I tire of the guitar demonstration videos that show nothing other than distortion, You Tube is full of them, but this was pleasant and you could hear a similarity with Hank in those fills.

T found it a bit bland and derivative, but still a vast improvement on most of the rubbish that passes for music these days (and always did to a great extent).

Brilliant post, Alan, and a life sentence in the Lounge for Mark!
