Having now visited Old Compton Street in daylight (and with a camera), I bring sad news.
The plaque has been stolen.

In this pic I've increased the contrast (and put a little pointy arrow) to show where it was.
The woman lowering the blind was the person who told me that it had been stolen.

It seems to sum up modern society's attitude towards property in general. In its accessible position it would have been relatively quick and easy to prise off the wall. If there is ever likely to be a replacement, it would need to be somewhere out of casual reach.

That's not the news I was hoping to hear :cry:

A sad indictment on todays society when things like this happen. I hope they do a fund raiser for a replacement - I would happily contribute.

Unfortunately, several of the figures present in 2006 are no longer with us.
