Hi,

My usual screen name is gambler, l've been trying to log in for a couple of days now and i just get a message that l've made too many attempts to log in even though it was the first attempt. It then asks me to fill in the captcha which l've tried but it still won't let me in. My password and name are correct. l've had to set up this new account just to be able to log back in. Can someone pleae help me please.

I have no idea why this is happening. How very annoying for you. I don’t know every detail of how the board works but I will look into it and see if I can fix it.

It is very frustrating indeed. I’ve had no problem logging in with the new log in, so at a total loss as to why I can’t get in using the same log in I’ve used for years. Fingers crossed you find something.

This can happen for a number of reasons. There may be a fault in the board software. If so it’s beyond my skills. However, I would expect other people to be reporting similar difficulties. It can be when a Caps Lock key is inadvertently on and you type what you think is lower case but that’s not what your computer sends us. That, or any kind of finger trouble, can lead to that effect. It can also be if someone else tries to log in to your account and fails. If so the site will eventually lock you out. It can be the CAPTCHA which I find hard to read and sometimes get wrong: I made three attempts before I found one I was sure of!

Anyway, whatever the reason, I can’t access your password. However I can issue you with a new one to get you back onto the site. You can then change it to something that only you know.

Many thanks for your efforts. I know it’s nothing I’m doing wrong myself. My screen name and password are saved in Google as they always have and have never had a problem. To make sure though, I typed everything in manually and have tried several times, but always has the same result and sends me to the captcha. I had the same problem you mentioned with the captcha, but like you found one that was clear. I have tried logging in on 3 different devices, but each has the same problem. I have run out of ideas as to what else I can do now. I’d appreciate it if you could send me a new password as you suggest please.

I have changed the password on your original account, details in a PM to you. This should get you back onto the site.

When it suits you, I suggest you change the password to something that only you know.
