Rosemary, I congratulate you on your will-power! Where do you get it from. Can you bottle it? If so, I'll have some, please! However, with regard to those guitars that were too beaten up for your liking, there are people who are happy to pay extra, just for that look!

Cheers

Noel

Hi Noel
Thanks :) Last year when I bought my Strat there it was a choice between a new Roadworn or the Sunburst and I didn't have to think twice. I wanted it to look new and I'll be devastated when the sunburst gets its first scratch.
Best wishes
Rosemary

Well, that's the first convincing reason I've heard for buying a relic, Rosemary - you don't have to worry about that first ding! Then again, imagine buying a relic and then accidentally having it refurbished!

Hi Noel
That's true :) but are those old Strats still playable with all the rust on the saddles? I've never seen a really old one before and there were big patches of missing paint too. I had a feeling the fretboard might have been newer though.
Best wishes
Rosemary

I believe that DID happen to Eric Clapton. Story I heard was he took the neck off Blackie which was fretworn etc but just the way he liked it to have something done on the neck - maybe trussrod - and it was sent away to Fender. They, seeing who it was from decided to do a complete job on it and totally made it "as new" - Mr C was not amused.
cheers
