As it is this Wednesday I would appreciate any constructive ideas how we can maximise the amount of playing time we have starting at 8 pm and finishing no later than 11.30.

We do try to let everyone have maximum of 4 numbers - generally 2 backing tracks and 2 with the band. But lately some players that play later in the evening have only Been able to play 1 with the band, which is not ideal and not fair.

How about this for a kick off.

We start at 7.45 no later.
All players are ready - guitars tuned, B/T s stated and loaded to player.
Would help if players picked numbers a mix of numbers that aren't all long.
Split the B / T's when band takes a break

Having said this I still want the eve to be relaxed and enjoyable for all, any further ideas will be considered.

Remembering that there is a difference between should not and must not,I think that players playing along to backing tracks should not play tunes that they could easily have played with the band. Unless maybe the tune is new to the player and the player lacks the confidence to be accompanied by the band. Maybe the band should post a list of the numbers that they do so that the players can choose which to play or learn.
Any thoughts?......See you Wednesday. Ken.

Hi Ken
We generally know all the hits well but are prepared to give others a go. We generally leave the decision to the players what they are most comfortable with.
The list of numbers we know does not really exist at the moment.
Cheers

Hi Geoff,

We all thought last night was a particularly good evening with benefit of the earlier starting time. Also a special thanks to Mike Creamer for handling the bass duties so well on behalf of Nigel, to whom we send our very best wishes.

Cheers,

Bob & Charlotte
