N I Shadows Club May Report

Another very, very busy day, with again several more new faces.

The day started off as usual with the "House" band of Jim,George,Chris,Hall
and Des,with Jim and George sharing the lead. Chris then featured keyboard
on Telstar and Time is tight.

The first half continued with two tunes each from Simon,Eric,Bernard,
John B,Philip,Jim B,Sam,Paul and Brian, with David taking over bass duties
on some numbers and Mike likewise on rhythm.

The interval was graced with a few acoustic numbers from John Davis and
friend,- international recording artist, singer - song writer Bap Kennedy.
This went down well and was greatly appreciated,- we might let them back!!

The second half started with Stanleys' set and was followed by another guest,
Chris Braniff,- yet another teenager and accomplished player. The rest of the
second half followed the pattern of the first.

We do however have a problem in that we ran over time yet again. With such a
large playlist we need to try for better efficiency while not affecting the
relaxed atmosphere of the club.

The playlist is posted on the notice board and everyone should know in advance
when they are due to play and should be tuned and ready to go,- in this way we
can get the maximum value out of the day.

Many thanks to BJ and Noel for providing a good PA in the knowlege Bap was
appearing, and spare a thought for Hall who played drums for almost four hours.

Untill next time,- Sunday 6th June.

Des.

Yes another very busy day at the club on Sunday. The variety in tunes being played now is quite amazing with very few tunes being played more than once on each club day. Once again we had had a good turn out plus some new recruits as well (don't know what they're getting themselves into), at this point I think I should mention our mentor and leader Des.
Des spends a lot of time organising the club days, from opening up the hall to putting the play list together, which is becoming a bigger nightmare each month now with everyone learning new tunes, some of which are very challenging. He also pays the hall rental etc and never complains about having to do any of this, I feel we own him a big thankyou as without Des there simply wouldn't be a N I Shadows Club.
Looking forward to next month's club already as you just never know what (or who)is going to appear, and as for what tunes will be played well your guess is as good as mine.

Cheers Des

Yes indeed! A big thank you to Des for organising the meetings and to Hall who has to play drums for the whole fours hours.

As a recently joined member I have found everyone very welcoming and helpful and it has encouraged me to learn new tunes which I might even be able to play someday without making a mistake - if I can overcome the nerves

Phil.

Hi Phil

Don't worry about the nerves just as long as you enjoy it, and you are improving each time you get up to play. With regards to Hall I've been working on that and there might be a surprise at next month's meeting. Make sure you turn up to find out what. See you next club meeting.

Cheers Eric
