Abbey Road Reverb EQ and predelay
Posted: Tue Dec 15, 2015 1:33 pmAs we know Abbey Road reverb was created in a specially built tiled room with several sewer pipes standing vertically to scatter the sound. The sound enters the room vis a loudspeaker and is picked up by a mic and sent back to the studio.
However the reverb sound is treated to a certain amount of EQ to finish it off and these videos show how the EQ side is done and how it works on the overall sound.
There is a pre delay of up to 180ms on the reverb I understand as well as the EQ.
The EQ usually consists of a high pass filter around 600Hz and a low pass filter around 10KHz.
A notch / parametric type filter is also used providing 10Db of cut or boost at one frequency of either 2.7KHz or 3.5KHz or 10 KHz.
