Fellows,
I have a great curiosity:
Did Hank use to record The Lonely Bull through overdub or double stop i.e. real time ?

Best regards,
Marcpes

Sorry, but I don't know the answer..however..

It's not too hard to use double stops if playing that tune yourself.

I usually play it that way, and I also use double stops to play Nivram, Stars fell on Stockton and a few other Shads songs with harmonised melody lines..takes practice but not impossible.

I learned The Lonely Bull as a solo piece with double stops and fill-in chords at the age of 16. Everything fell away after that. Now I’m an old git playing bass. So much easier!

Hank overdubbed second lead guitar parts probably to achieve the sound he wanted. He is of course capable of playing double stops, but it wouldn't have sounded the same.
