Been wondering for some time now how to get a useable Spotnicks sound meaning Bo Winberg's lead sound.
A Strat is needed I know and the fact that Bo used self-built amps and other things are common knowledge.
I did some research on this and do not intend to dwell on that coz that's not what I'm aiming for atm.
I did some Youtube surfing and apart from seeing and hearing a lot of Spotnicks originals I also bumped into this guy
who imo quite acceptably nailed the sound I'm looking for.



As far as I know it should be possible to do this with a stompbox such as an Acoustic Guitar Simulator from Boss,for example of course.
I have experimented with a Vox Tonelab set to "Acoustic" and noticed something simular but not quite the same as the guy in the Youtube vid.
So what I would like to know is there by chance anyone who tried this and got some good results and by using what to get it.
It would have been easier if the guy in the vid explained what exactly he uses to get the sound he's getting..lol!
Oh well...let's see what comes up here shall we?

Thanks for that Didier...they seem to have a good sound as well.
Still I would like to know what is being used to get that lead sound..
It surprises me that hardly anyone here knows anything about getting this sound and what to use to get it?
Surely there should be SOME info otherwise it's going to come to finding out for myself..lol!

I have fitted the Shads version to one of my strats and it works quite well. I haven't tried the Spotniks version.


I think the author is a member here; perhaps he could comment?

Thanks Pete...this could be indeed very useful in trying to get what I'm after!
Would it be possible to post a PRINTABLE version of this schematic?
The one posted here won't print in full..I only get half the schematic.
Anyway..I'm gonna try both versions as soon as I can get a fully printable version of this wiring schematic..

Hi all.
The wiring that Peter shows comes, I think, from the same source as the blue Spotnick's floor unit I bought quite a a few years ago. I have no idea where I bought it from but the Shadows/ Spotnicks wiring details came with the box. I cant even remember if I ordered the Shadows or the Spotnicks unit!!!! but it does give a half decent Spotnicks sound so I must have ordered the Spotnicks unit.

Roger Cazeaux, the lead guitarist, uses a special "box" he bought in Sweden, I don't know much about it, and a very poweful wideband amp. I'll see them next week-end, I'll try to get more informations.

Here is Roger Cazeaux's rack for Spotnicks sound :



As I understood, the "Diamond" preamp he bought in Sweden was made by someone who died since then. It's used with reverb and compressor units.

His amp is a SR Technology Jam 400, a 400 watt wide range amplifier :
