This is a really terrific number and I enjoyed listening to your version Ian.

As others have said, it's a tune that brings back many memories of the cinema during the sixties.

The lead instrument on the original recording was a twelve string but it sounds great with your Strat - nice BT by Dave as well.

what a mine of information!
Who IS that guy in the "Medley" commercial? Jess Conrad, Craig Douglas? Any ideas? Whoever, he looks far too excited about a fruit and chocolate bar to be safe - look at those wide, staring eyes at the end! Scarey!

I've seen the "Have a Medley" advert before (and remember it from the period on TV), but I don't know who the performer was. It wasn't a well-known pop singer (and therefore not Craig Douglas or Jess Conrad). He looks a little like a younger version of Dickie Valentine, doesn't he?

There was a demand for accomplished song and dance men available for TV and cinema adverts of the time. If I recall correctly, the younger Una Stubbs and Louie Ramsay used to do similar TV ads, as did Teddy Greene (he of "The Young Ones" and "Summer Holiday" fame).

Hi Jim
the very same! He was very helpful to me when I was starting out, putting me on the right track. He took a right dog of a 1991 Squier HBM that I got for a 'song', and turned it into a playing Masterpiece with Kinman FVs, all Fender pots and a genuine 62 Bridge (straight swap amazingly enough on that guitar). But it was the work he did on the body that astounded me - it had been hard gigged for years and was badly scratched front and back. When I got it back, the scratches had gone and is shone like a new guitar. I asked him how he had done it (I hadnt had it re-finished) and he just tapped his nose and said "Trade Secret". I like Steve.
cheers
