LET IT BE ME - new version

Postby Stratpicker » 06 Oct 2017, 20:26

Sorry I've not been around - All manner of busy things got in the way of Music for the past few weeks, not all of them pleasant. But now things are quieter, here's a nice low key tune from me. On holiday I heard this sung by two guys doing karaoke in a bar. They were drunk as skunks but boy could they sing. And I thought "that'd make a good Instro".

Let It Be Me is a French tune from 1955 originally called "Je T'Appartiens", composed and initially recorded by Gilbert Becaud. The first English lyrics version were used in 1957 in the US drama series 'Climax!' and the Everly Bros version with their unique diatonic harmony got to No 7 in the US Billboard chart in 1960, No 13 in the UK.

This is my own arrangement, backing made as always in Band In A Box.
Brason Strat, FV kinmans, neck pickup, a little bit of Boss CS-3 compressor, Zoom2000EFTP patch 10, Joyo ACTone, to my DAW.

I hope you enjoy it.

Splendid as ever my old pal. A lovely tune. Yes, it does lend itself to an instrumental version.
You got the backing track perfect and the guitar tone was well suited.

As with everything you do, well worth a listen.

El Planto strikes again.

Nice one Ian.

Your old mate with the central parting. xx

Thank you Mr Bake O'Foyle for listening and your kind feedback.
Hope you are keeping well. Hopefully things will settle down after a couple of months of madness. Last straw was Monarch going bust on us when we were on holiday!!
Cheers

I didn't know you could get a flight to Prestatyn. :D

We must have a catch up, it has to be your turn for coffee.

That's really easy on the ear. Every repetition in the song is arranged differently and I love the surprise key change. Masterful.
I also prefer it to the Shads version because I thought their vocals were a bit below par.

Thanks Ian
It was great fun to do. A couple of the chords were "non-standard" ;-) and I enjoyed doing my own thing with the Everly's diatonic thingy.
Thank you for listening and your very kind worms.

What a lovely recording... and a great arrangement Ian. I always liked this song but Bruce’s ‘each time we meet love’ vocal put me right off! It makes a really nice instrumental - a lovely acoustic sound really complimentary to a very sweet lead guitar tone. Not overblown and beautifully understated. Loved it.
