ADIEMUS-HYMN for Guitar and Orchestra.

Might as well get it over with -
Modern Classical orchestral music. It's part of Karl Jenkins' "Adiemus - Songs of Sanctuary" Suite from 1995 and is "sung" on the CD by the amazing Miriam Stockley "backed" by the London Philly. There are no words in it. What we might think are words are vocalised syllables. The simple but beautiful melody has bugged me for years.
I created the BT in BandInABox. Oh such jolly fun with the chords!!
On a technical playing note - Until now I hadn't realised how hard it is to actually play an instrument in absolute strict tempo. Pop music allows expression and feeling by playing on, ahead or even behind the beat. Not so here - it had to be right on the baton tap with every note. I didn't manage it! Lol!
Shadows it ain't. I can completely understand why no-one else might like this, but I just HAD to try it. I hope you will give it a listen.
Its only a short piece so I wont keep you for long.

That’s very tasteful, Ian, and your guitar sound fits it well. It’s the sort of thing I wish The Shadows had explored and which Colin of The Rapiers certainly has attempted. I like it.

My confusion lies in trying to reconcile your recording with the Adiemus I have and often listen to. Have you taken your version from another part of the work, or are my ears just deceiving me?

Adiemus- Songs of Sanctuary is a Work of 9 parts and this track "Hymn" is the final track, Track 9. On the original I just love the way you hear that coda "Ky-um-by-ay" far away in the distance, so I nicked it!
Ive always felt that it was meant to be listened to, if one has the time these days, as a Whole rather like The Beatles "Abbey Road" Side 2. However, all tracks , inc the Fab 4s, stand up well on their own. I did have a mosey around "Adiemus" itself but the essential percussion and awesome backing vocals needed to make it work defeated me.
