True Love Ways

Postby abel » 29 Jun 2018, 06:23

Hi all,

This is my second direct audio recording for over a decade.
.
A Timeless success of the late and beloved Buddy Holly.

This is my setting:
Mex Strat Guitar > Amplug 2 AC30 > MagicStomp(Echo) > Orange Omec Teleport > PC USB
I had to struggle with the latency while playing.

Hope you like it although many have already done much better on the different sites.

Blessings,
Abel

Your playing's always great Abel, and this is no exeption. A really enjoyable performance of a great number.

Bring back the videos!

Hi all,

Glad you liked it.

It's funny, I played it the simplest way possible as I was only concentrating on the Latency. It's a torture to play when the sound comes out a 1/4 sec later. The DAW somehow compensates for the lag time, it's only while playing.
I do prefer the live video.

I would appreciate tips to avoid the latency from the experts on the site.

PS: My wife and I will be in London Saturday September 1 to Monday September 3 God willing.
It would be a pleasure for me to meet and have a coffee with the locals and / or visit a local
Shadows music club.

Blessings,
Abel

What DAW did you use Abel? If you use Audacity you can measure the latency and correct it before you start to record. It involves connecting your headphone socket to your micrphone socket and generating a click track.

Good luck,

Hi Len,

I did use Audacity.

As I said, this is my setting.
Mex Strat Guitar > Amplug 2 AC30 > MagicStomp(Echo) > Orange Omec Teleport > PC USB

I forgot to add this:
The Teleport Out1 and Out2 go to my small Behringer mixer Line In.
From the Behringer, I can monitor with my headphones.

Is there a better way?
I would appreciate a screenshot for the Audacity Latency settings.
Thank you much,

Blessings to all,
Abel

Although I do not use a PC for music, I use Apple Logic with very little latency, but to record guitar tracks, I mostly mute them while playing so that I only hear the guitar without amps. For me at home it's loud enough. All the effects are added by re-recording.

Hi Abel,

I'm using Windows 7 Professional and for some reason I can't take a screenshot. I have, however, copied and pasted the pages into a Microsoft Word Document (Pictures and all), so if you send me an email to lennyevans1AToutlook.com (replacing AT with @) I can send you the document. It's fairly easy to follow - it must be if I could make it work.

Best wishes,

Len
